About Grid Signal

Built for the energy transition that is already happening.

Grid Signal is a UK grid-intelligence company. We help originators screen sites for grid-connection viability in seconds, so feasibility budget goes only to the sites that can connect.

We exist because the rate at which the UK and Europe must build new infrastructure is colliding with the physical limits of the existing power system. Capital is moving faster than the network can absorb it. The organisations that get this right will be the ones with structured intelligence behind every site decision.

Land and infrastructure originators use Grid Signal to triage and shortlist sites for data centres, battery storage, solar, and fleet depots. Fund managers use it to screen sites during early due diligence, before committing analyst time or feasibility budget.

Why we exist

The connection queue is the new constraint on national infrastructure.

Across the UK, transmission and distribution networks face the largest reinforcement programme in their history. Connection queue volume has grown faster than the system operator can process it. Reform is reshaping how projects qualify, when they connect, and what they cost.

For the organisations deploying capital into this environment, the cost of getting it wrong has changed. A site that looks identical to its neighbour on every other metric can have a connection window five years apart. Capital deployed against the wrong assumption gets stranded.

Grid Signal exists to remove that asymmetry. We make grid intelligence structured, defensible, and accessible, so capital allocation reflects what the network can actually deliver, not what was promised informally.

The UK has 24 years to rebuild the way energy reaches every site, vehicle, and building in the country.

Net zero by 2050 is the legal commitment. Every gigawatt of new generation, every connection upgrade, every depot electrification programme, every data centre that comes online, all of it depends on a power network that is mid-transformation.

UK grid capacity required by 2050

National Grid ESO estimates electricity demand will roughly double by 2050 versus today.

UK Generation Mix, rolling 12 month average

Where the UK's electricity comes from today

Source: National Grid ESO / DESNZ
Wind 31%
Gas 27%
Nuclear 14%
Imports 12%
Solar 8%
Bio 5%
Hyd 3%
Renewable + low carbon: ~58% Fossil: ~27%

The UK is roughly halfway through its electricity decarbonisation journey but has barely started on the network rebuild needed to handle the demand growth that comes next. Grid Signal exists to help organisations make capital decisions that account for both realities.

How we operate

Three operating principles

01

Data over narrative

We build conclusions from live network data, not informal feedback. Every Grid Signal output is traceable to a verifiable source.

02

Structure over speculation

Every assessment uses the same Grid Signal Index methodology, applied consistently. Comparable across sites, sectors, and markets.

03

Independence over advocacy

We are not brokers. We do not own connection rights. Our outputs reflect network reality, not commercial incentive.

We are not brokers. We do not speculate. We provide structured energy intelligence for infrastructure deployment.
